PerfectDraft faced the challenge of managing the return of used kegs. These kegs have value and need to be returned for reuse, similar to the concept of Nespresso capsule returns. The goal was to make this process as simple as possible for users, across different countries and logistical providers.
Our client also needed robust solutions for data collection, analysis, and management to handle increasing data volumes and complexity. They required a flexible system for continuous deployment and management, ensuring resilience and availability.

Seamless keg returns
The project involved creating a new, standardized system that would work for both continental Europe and the UK. This system needed to be modern, scalable, and capable of integration with various applications. Previous system meant double cost for each new feature, expensive maintenance and problems with legacy systems.
The development of the system was based on serverless technology, ensuring low infrastructure costs. The entire process was documented using Stoplight, a tool for API documentation and design.
The project took a year to complete. Since its implementation, millions of kegs have been successfully returned through the system.

Data Ingestion: Utilized Azure DataFactory, Databricks, Rivery, Python, and PySpark for efficient data ingestion and migration of older pipelines.
Monitoring: Developed a robust monitoring system with dashboards, alerts, and notifications using Slack API, Snowflake, DataBox, and Logic Apps.
Real-Time Data Services: Implemented AWS Lambda, Snowpipes, AWS Storage, SQS, and SNS for live data services, with AWS CloudWatch for oversight.
Versioning and Deployment: Introduced a dynamic versioning system with Azure DevOps, Bash, and GitHub Actions for consistent and timely data updates.
Collaboration and Reporting: Enhanced collaboration using a Slack bot for instant PowerBI report snapshots.
Security: Ensured top-tier security with Key Vaults, robust logging, and MFA for Snowflake.
